Emma got to start Kindergarten this year!! WHERE HAS THE LAST 5 YEARS GONE????!! Of course, she was ecstatic to be going to "real" school, but I have to admit, I am still a little emotional about it! (I didn't cry or anything, but I really could have just hung out in the hall on her first day all day long!) She is doing GREAT so far! Her only complaint is that she doesn't like going EVERYday! Up until now, we have only done 2-3 days/ week. Mommy isn't crazy about EVERYday either! It is also taking her several weeks to not be completely wiped out by the end of the day too! She has always gotten a minimum of a 45 minute nap, but not anymore. She is O-U-T by 8:30pm during the week, and she has NEVER gone to sleep before 10! We didn't sign up for soccer this year, because we have cheer on Thursdays, and tumbling on Mondays, and I just wasn't sure with homework too, and I am very glad we didn't! School takes so much out of them at this age! There are 13 Kindergarten classes at Saltillo Primary School this year, and even though we knew of about 20 kids starting Kindergarten there, Emma didn't know anyone in her class. That is really what made me nervous for her, but she makes friends so easily, that she has been fine! Her best friends in her class so far are Marlee, Reagan, and Rheagan. She does get to see several kids we knew before at recess, lunch, and in the halls, so that's good too! They had a little "test" the first week, and were supposed to recognize all the letters (capital and lowercase) and all their numbers up to 10. Everything they didn't get right, we were supposed to work on, and then after a week, they got to get a prize out of the treasure chest...well, Emma got them all right the first day! Yay Emma! They have started sight words and spelling, so I feel like she'll be reading pretty soon. She is like her mommy in that she loves math! Way more than reading! She can now do simple addition problems by drawing dots for each of the numbers then counting them all! We started subtraction last week...she draws the dots for the big number, then erases the number of dots for the little number! She can count to 100 and recognize numbers up to 100 in random order. Ok, I'm done bragging...for now anyways!
Emma's sweet teacher Mrs. Cherry!
Her room is known as the "Fantastic Ants"!
Emma is excited to be at the same school as Fayth too! (Madi thought she was just as big as them!)
Madi's first day of 2 year old preschool!! She loves getting to go "play with the kids"!
(Ok, so you all know I am an over-achiever, so I actually did all of Emma's "1st Day of Kindergarten" pictures on the day we went to meet her teacher! I knew the first morning would be hectic, and I didn't want ot embarass her with all the fuss, but I HAD to get those sweet pictures! So technically, this in the yellow chevron was her actual first day of Kindergarten, outside her room!)
