WILD Weekend!!!

This weekend has been so WILD, I am just now finding the time to blog about it!  I knew Saturday would be very busy but had no idea it would run till 2 in the morning!!

We kicked off the weekend with Madi's 4 month checkup with Dr. Nabors on Friday at 10 am.  She weighed 16 lbs 5 oz (90th percentile) and was 26.75 inches long (off the charts in length!). She got 3 shots and the immunization by mouth, which she was not too happy about any of it!

Next, we went to the mall to visit Santa!  Last year was the first year Emma would sit in Santa's lap and that was only at the Celebration Village just long enough for me to quickly snap a picture.  She never would sit in the Santa's lap at the mall.  But, this year, she was very excited to visit Santa and assure him she had been very good and needed everything on her list!  Emma also wrote letters to Santa for herself and Madi that we put in the big mailbox!

Emma telling Santa how good she's been!

So happy I got a picture of both girls with Santa!

Saturday, we started our day at 10 for the Tupelo Christmas parade!  It is tradition that we always go, even though the last couple of years have been kind of disappointing.  BUT, this year was MUCH better!  They actually had several really good floats!  Emma had a blast dancing to the bands and waiving to everyone in the parade!

Katie and Emma eating their snacks before the parade!

Madi woke up right in time for the parade to start!

Emma was very excited that one of her good friends (Elise) sat with us!

The whole crew watching the parade!

Uncle William, PaPa, and Uncle Willard

Aunt Charlotte, Vance, and Cindy

Poor Vance!!  He HATES loud noises, so he had to have someone hold his ears the whole parade!

Emma dancing to the band music!

Next we went to my mom's extended family Christmas get-together!  We started having it the first Saturday of December several years ago, and it works out great!  We alternate going to the Delta and Tupelo each year and this year it was up here.  All 7 of my mom's siblings were in attendance!!  And most of their kids/ grandkids also got to come!

All of the kiddos opeing their gifts!

LoLo got Emma a cute "Little Petshop" remote control car!

Emma opened Madi's gift too!  LoLo got Madi a "Penny" (penguin with balls in the bottom that you hit and it wobbles back and forth)!

We were supposed to go to Sarah Grace Wood's wedding at 5, but both girls were give out and actually slept from 3:30-5:30.  So, instead, Jason, Miranda, and Preston came over to cook out.  We had a great time catching up with them!  Emma was in heaven, because as stated previously, Preston is the love of her life! Emma and Preston were playing (aka destroying) in the playroom when we heard a loud shrill followed by screaming and crying!  I knew instantly that Emma was really hurt.  She is pretty tough, and it usually takes a lot for her to cry...when she's doing something she wants to do and doesn't want to stop.  Preston came running in the living room saying that Emma fell.  We found out later that they had been jumping from her little craft table to the bean bag across the room!  Well, Emma missed the bean bag and ended up falling on the floor and breaking her arm!!!  So, off to the ER we went!  I called LoLo and picked her up to go with me, because Nick had to stay with Madi (who I had just gotten to sleep).  Emma screamed everytime we tried to move her and was crying hysterically, even after we made it to the hospital.  She would not move her arm, and so we couldn't get her dress off of her (her brand new Christmas dress that I had made for both of them to wear this year that she had only worn to see Santa and then that day), so the nurse had to cut it off of her arm!!  They took her to x-ray and sure enough, it was broken!  Bless her heart!  They gave her some Tylenol with Codeine and she soon felt a lot better!  We found out she is very funny on pain medicine!!  She started talking 90 to nothing and giggling!!  The nurses couldn't believe she didn't fall asleep, but she was wide open!  She broke her right humerus bone right where it attaches to the elbow.  Luckily, it was a clean break and did not dislocate...that would have required setting with pins and surgery.  The ER nurse placed a plaster strip on the back of her arm and made a splint.  They also gave her a sling that she calls her "purse".  We finally got home about 2 am!  We were to call the orthopedic doctor to schedule an appointment on Monday.  I decided to use Dr. White because Emma had seen him before.  She actually broke her left wrist last October by falling off the balance beam at gymnastics.  She was in a splint last year for her birthday too!!  I told her that social services was going to come get me if this became and annual event!  We went to Dr. White yesterday afternoon (Tuesday).  He did another x-ray and it showed that it had not dislocated, so the splint was doing it's job. He did not put a "real" cast on it.  I kind of wished he would, because I'm scared to death she is going to hurt it again.  He told her to SLOW DOWN (yea right!!) and we would come back next Thursday for another x-ray.  If it doesn't dislodge, we should get the splint off in about 3 weeks...if it does, she'll have to get pins in her arm!  I just pray we can keep that arm still!!!!  Emma's birthday is this Sunday, so I guess we'll have another birthday party in a cast :(

Poor baby!  and poor dress!

Feeling a little better after the codeine!

Emma wanted to decorate her "purse"!

  1. What an eventful weekend! Poor Emma! I'll be praying that she doesn't hurt it worse during the next 3 weeks. I can't imagine either one of my boys with a broken arm and no cast! We'd be in trouble for sure!

Btw, you did an awesome job on the dresses! You should cut off both sleeves and make it sleeveless, then she could wear a long-sleeve shirt underneath it! :)
